On-Campus Scholarship Deadline
The American University Office of Merit Awards offers advises undergraduates applying for Boren Scholarships. Prospective applicants should email email@example.com to request access to a Blackboard site with additional information and resources.
As an undergraduate, you will have to work with both our office and AU Abroad. Applying for a Boren Scholarship and applying to study abroad are different and separate processes, and failure to consult appropriately with AU Abroad can have negative consequenses.
We strongly encourage Boren scholarship applicants to submit first drafts of their essays by the November deadline. However, we will assess latecomers on a case-by-case basis.
On-Campus Fellowship Deadline:
The American University Office of Merit Awards offers support to graduate students applying for Boren Fellowships. Prospective applicants should email firstname.lastname@example.org to request access to a Blackboard site with additional information and resources.
We encourage potential applicants to complete and submit a "Proposal Development Exercise" by the middle of November--this document aids you in thinking about your application and aids us in providing appropriate guidance.
We ask all applicants to submit draft essays by the beginning of January, and will prioritize working with the students who have done so in the final stretch leading up to the national deadline in late January.
