David L. Boren Awards for International Study

Applications for the 2011-2012 National Security Education Program’s David L. Boren Scholarships for undergraduate students are now available at www.borenawards.org. Boren Awards provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. students to study in Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East, where they can add important international and language components to their educations. Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 for an academic year’s study abroad.

The UCSC deadline to submit both the on-line application and the supplemental hard copy materials (two reference forms, official, hard copy transcripts, one page study abroad program description, language forms, and letters of support for direct enrollment (if applicable) for the Boren Scholarship is January 14, 2011. Boren Fellow Publishes Article

Eric Fischer, a 2010 Boren Fellow, recently had an article published in the Portuguese Institute of International Relations and Security (IPRIS) Maghreb Review. Eric is earning his PhD in International Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
